We have sailed on Norwegian for 15 cruises and we try to get on all of the new ones at least once, We did sail on the getaway for 4 different times, but the Bliss has them all beat. With all of the new things onboard for the guest to use and experience there is no way for anyone to be bored. Then you throw in the shows that their is on board, The Jersey Boys is the best one that I have seen on the ships. There were great and good one on the other ships but this one is hard to beat. The Observation Deck is out of this world. I could have just set in there for the whole cruise. I have not seen a place like it before o a ship and after I found it I spent a lot of time in there just relaxing and reading. I will book it again this year and I have already booked the new Encore for a cruise in Dec. of 2019. Read Less

I went with a girlfriend and we had a blast. We went on excursions at each island and enjoyed our days on ship taking advantage of the gym, pool and trivia games. Getting on/off the ship does take some time, but it was very well organized. The ship is large and requires a lot of walking, but directions are fairly well labeled. We took advantage of the interactive computers on each floor to find entertainment and dining options. Customer service was helpful for room issues and excursions were easy to schedule at the desk or via TV in the room. Entertainment was top notch! Bands were great, shows were amazing. Beatles tribute band was excellent. Enjoyed the buffet and a few restaurants. Good selection of food, but waited around 10 minutes at the bar for most drinks. The gym was very busy and cramped. Plenty of lounge chairs, bu the pool was very small - super crowded. Overall a great trip. Will be cruising with Norwegian again! Read Less

I am Elite on Princess (40 sailings) but wanted a bit more excitement than they offer and I have frequently sailed on Celebrity. I've sailed on Norwegian (Pearl, Epic, Gateaway and Bliss) four times. I was traveling with a group of 16 and the group wanted a fun-time with a younger environment so we selected the Bliss. I was most excited to sail on the Bliss. The Bliss is a beautiful ship with a wonderful observation area on 15, staterooms are beautiful, disembarkation and embarkation was the best of any cruise. The Bliss is very clean and the staff was wonderful. My stateroom was on deck 14 two floors below deck 16 which is often times referred to as the Lido deck on other ships. I could hear the music starting around 11:00 am and ending around 12:00 or later every evening. Never an opportunity for nap if you are a light sleeper-- music mostly all day and night. I experienced a squeaking/knocking sound coming from the sliding door for better than fours days before I called the Customer Service Desk which they repaid and sent a wonderful gift for any inconvenience this may have caused. I was not able to see any shows due to no open reservation (you have to make a reservation) or partake in the racing cars because they were booked up quickly or only late night appointments were available. The one treat that I love most on all Norwegian cruises is the coconut sherbet. To my disappointment they had no coconut sherbet. The food on the buffet was average although the oxtails and chicken gumbo was outstanding. Seating in what they call the Garden Cafe was a bit of a challenge during lunch and breakfast but you would eventually find a place as on most ships. The Fitness Center was outstanding with wonderful hours. You can get on the treadmill at 6:00 am. With all side I would sail again staying on a lower deck away from deck 16 and making reservation as soon as i get on the ship. Read Less

We just got off the Bliss after a great week in the carribean including great weather. The Bliss proved to be a ship of contrasts. Some things were great and other things not so much. We we in a basic balcony cabin near the back of the ship. Firstly the great things; the ship is new and everything seemed to work well and the ship is quiet (little engine noise and vibration). The food is on average exceptionally good, especially in the buffet. The service is also very good. The water tasted quite good and there is a number of flavoured drinks available all the time, including sugarless ones that were very good. The numerous shows were exceptional (especially Jersey Boys) but need to be booked as early as you can to ensure you will get in on the date and time you want. There are standby spots for people booked who don't show up. While only two sets of elevators for this very long ship, you could always get one quickly as they are new and fast. There is a Starbucks on board and lots of nice comfortable places to sit inside the ship and find a drink or entertainment. Now for the not so good; we could hear voices in the cabin next door pretty regularly. The bathroom is the biggest we have seen on this class of ship but for this you give up closet space. If your cabin has a large couch next to the closet you have to little space between the end of the couch and the closet. There is a couple of cabinets near the tv but only two large drawers under the couch and filled with pillows and extra comforter so maybe you can sqeeze your clothes in them but just maybe! The cabinets on each side of the bed are extremely tiny unless you get one bigger one like our friends did, we got two tiny ones. The adult pool was nice but on sea days we couldn't get near it from all the passengers sitting all around who obviously got the drink package as their free perk. The hot tubs were a better as there are five of them on the upper deck above the pools. There is a kids pool too The race track was neat (and the kids will love the laser tag facility) but does take up so much room that there are few places to find quiet spots to find a lounger unless you splurge for "the haven". We tried two specialty restaurants and Le bistro was great but Cagneys was a disappointment. There are quiet a few other specialty reastaurnts but we didn't try the others. Margaritaville seemed empty most of the time when we went by and may have been due to the cover charge. The casino was spacious but a bit too smokey in the evening for us. Embarkation and debarkation went well for us, and we did have a nice cruise on the Bliss but a few issues meant we couldn't give this ship top marks. Tip. You can't punch a hole in your card for a lanyard as the card will stop working, so bring a lanyard with the plastic casing for your card. Read Less

This is not only my first time on the Norwegian bliss, but also my first time on a cruise ship altogether. Space first I had a balcony room 14222 In the room was better than expected. It was spacious enough to put all of our clothes away and talk away for suitcases. The bathroom what is large enough to get ready with the shower that I had ample room. The food on the bless is amazing both in the buffet and the restaurants. Hi chose the specialty dining package so I had a choice of three specialty restaurants to attend. I went to Teppanyaki’s, oceans blue, and Cagney steakhouse. All three were better than expected but oceans blue room the top. While On the ship we saw both Havana, and jersey boys. Both shows were worth seeing but the Jersey boys was far better than I thought it was going to be Carrie Though the ship was full, we never had to wait for food or drinks for more than a few minutes. Days at sea the pool was busy, but we were always able to find a seat in the water. The only negative thing I would have to say about the bless is the Manhattan room for dinner what is not of the same caliber as the rest of the restaurants on board. That being said the food was still good and the service was not as efficient as the rest of the ship. Overall this was an amazing experience and I have already booked my next cruise with Norwegian and I cannot wait. Read Less

New ship. New look. Great time everything was easily assessable. Food was to die for something for everyone. Drinks were everywhere Could use more somking areas. Will be looking for another Norwegian Cruise to Alaska. Our Steward took great care of us. Even the Birthday cake and decorations for my wife was welcome. I think I gained 10 pounds!!!!! I will have to go back and try to lose it!!! Hardly no waiting lines for dinners. Restaurants were all very abliging. Took very good care of us. The Japanese Steakhouse provided great entertainment The Steakhouse steak didn’t need a knife to cut with. The Seafood restaurant had scallops that were out of this world. And I didn’t find any deserts I didn’t like The Casino was my favorite place was a winner and a player of tournaments. Lots of entertainment. All of the bartenders worked hard to keep you happy. Tried many new drinks that I never heard of. Didn’t find any I didn’t like. Lol Read Less

You get quite a view and a relaxing area for all to spend some time together. Los Labos was excellent and huge food portions. You must like Mexican. Great guac and skirt steak. La Bistro was excellent. The food tasted so good. I recommend the filet or the shrimp. Ocean Blue was good but little portions. The taste was superb. Cons: Stay out of the casino the worst odds I ever saw. What are they trying to do pay the ship off in a year? Just be careful if you do gamble. Not worth it. Food service at La Carina needs work. Very slow and small portions. Don’t go hungry. They also never offered us if we wanted wine or a drink. Gave us water but little Refills. Read Less

First cruise on Norwegian, went with 2 other couples. Very large ship with many, many people. Reservations go very quickly but we knew that and reserved ahead of time and right after we boarded. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bars are beyond numerous. Food was excellent except for a few exceptions. Mini Suite is a suite on a cruise ship but bathroom was large with 6 separate shower jets and a double sink, NICE! Just a couple of negatives. Specialty restaurant La Cucina is nothing special, many of food items are available in main dining room, service was very slow here and subpar, disappointing. Fee for Go Carts $99.00 is not worth it at all, explanation given to me was not correct, you got no special privileges and track kept breaking down due to children using the go carts and not knowing how to operate the vehicles, wait time is sometimes in excess of 1 hour. DO NOT BUYTHE GO CART PASS! One of the Broadway Plays, “Jersey Boys” stated no one under 16 yet there were kids 7, 8 and 9 watching the play and playing games on their cellphones, embarrassing and distracting. Elevators tend to get crowded. Make sure you get a reservation for the specialty restaurant “Cagney’s“. Amazing and well worth it. Service was phenomenal here and food was superb, also the Japanese restaurant was well worth it. No reason to sit down for breakfast as the buffet has everything and I mean everything. Just one other complaint I heard was bottled water is not a part of ultimate drink package and it is expensive. Aside from just a few minor details my wife and I really enjoyed our first cruise with NCL. Read Less

I waned to give everyone a quick review of our cruise on the bliss during Thanksgiving week. All in all it was great trip. Lets start with getting on the ship. We took a early flight out of Norfolk and landed in Miami 9:00. After getting our bags (which took forever but that is a different story) we took a taxi to the terminal. We got to the terminal around 10:15 or so and went to check in. Had to wait 15 min in line to go threw security and then to get our keys. We got on to the ship around 11:15 and got in line to do the go carts and lazor tag. Took only 15 min. We went straight to the bar (The local). The service is good and started our cruise. The food at the local was ok not great but still it was great just to relax. Rooms where ready around 2:30 and actually our luggage arrived around 5:00. First night we went to the seafood restaurant for dinner, Great food and great service. We highly recommend this restaurant to eat. On to the casino, very disappointed in the craps table, it was $25 limit. Too high for my blood. It was always 25 limit each evening but did go to $10 limit during the day when it was open. If they are going to have $25 craps they should have another craps table. There is plenty of room. All the speciality restaurants( we tried them all) are very good food and service except for Los Lobos. The service was very poor here as well as the food was not the greatest. Not sure if the food was that bad but the service just made the experience that bad. The entertainment was very good, If I where you I would try it all even going to all the bars try the entertainment in those bars. I have heard a number of people who complained about the elevators on the Bliss, other than the first day we never had any big issues getting on and off. Remember folks there is 4000 people on the ship so don't get to upset if you have to wait 4-5 min. Just to finish this up we very happy with the ship and service, food was much better than expected even in the buffet where we actually had prime rib one evening. I do want to bring one bad experience we had was the one night we had reserved for Thanksgiving night. We reserved a night in the dinning room and according to the Maitre D the next evening they they lost all reservations for the dinning room for that evening. We where not told that when we checked in only it would be an hour before we could be seated. I was not a happy camper. Nobody at the desk could explain what the problem was so we where very disappointed. I did discuss this with the Maaitre D the next day that he should have been in the fire at the desk to explain what the problem was but he was no where to be found. The next night while we where having dinner the Restaurant Manager (Rogeliza Nanad) found us and explained what happened and we had a great 15 min conversation with her. She is top notch and will to help anyone out. We have developed a great relationship with her and this is one of many reason that we Booked the Encore for Thanksgiving as she will be on the ship. If anyone has any questions please put a notice on cruise critic and I will answer all your questions. I hope this helps everyone and sorry if things are a little jumble up. Read Less

We have been on 4 NCL cruises and this time we were lucky to get an upgrade to the Haven. This is the first time I am writing a review,so I will apologize ahead for how long it is. I had read many reviews and tips about the Haven experience and my expectations were pretty high. I am happy to say all my expectations were surpassed, from the time we went through the security line and we were whisked away into the private lounge downstairs, checked in there. We were offered some light refreshments and then taken upstairs to comfy chairs to wait for the ship to be cleared so we can board, oh and offered more light refreshments and drinks. We were a little apprehensive because our friends were not in the Haven and we worried about any issues that could arise from this, but our concierge took all that worry away. We had no problem making dinner, show or speciality dining reservations with our friends and we even were able to have them to dinner one evening in the Haven, which was so much fun. We had seen many pictures of the Haven rooms and facilities but I have to say when you walk through the doors into the Haven it was beautiful, pictures do not do it justice. We had the Penthouse Cortyard room, it was nicely decorated and spacious. My only complaint would be the closet could not close with the hangers with the robes on them because it was not wide enough. But there are 2 closets, so really not an issue. The bathroom was a nice size and had a tub and shower combo. We were on deck 17 so we had the bigger balcony but we didn’t real use it because there were so many places to be outside in the Haven that we didn’t want to spend it on our balcony. We had heard sometimes there are a lot of kids in the pool and some people didn’t like that, but after being in here ..yes there are kids in the pool, but I found them to be very nice and the other reason for this is no kids under 16 are allowed out on the sun deck, so for the younger kids this is the only place for them to be in any water. I love kids so it didn’t bother us at all and there were plenty of places for us adults to go in the Haven if you wanted some quiet time or a hot tub to go in. Most times on the sun deck, my husband and I were the only 2 people in the hot tub or on the sun deck. It was amazing. The Haven bar was fun and the bartender s were great, we had Dhruv and Glen who were awesome. Ask them for the Smoky Old Fashion, it’s amazing. Now onto to the Haven Restaurant, I had read many reviews about this and all I can say is Wow. From the time you walk up the stairs and are greeted by the hostess Li Beth with the biggest smile every day to the MaitreD who always was there for anything you needed no request too small to the food which was incredible. Yes the menu does not change, but each dish was delicious, so we didn’t get tired of the menu. We also had 3 speciality dinners. We went to all the shows on the Bliss,. Jersey Boys was awesome. We really enjoyed Havana, some people didn’t enjoy it because it didn’t have a real story line, but it wasn’t supposed to it was about the dancing /era, we thought it was great. Prohibition was a lot of fun, the drinks were good too. The Beatles show for us was just ok. Go carts were a lot of fun, definitely worth a try. We booked this early in the day before any drinking begun..lol. If you get a chance to go on the Bliss you won’t be disappointed, it’s a beautiful ship . I think the improvements with the Observation lounge and moving the cafe to just below it were really a great idea. The Casino was really big,we didn’t do well there, but did see other people win. Still had fun. My husband liked the Humidor better this time because they stopped people from smoking cigarettes in there, so he said it was better. Read Less

Most fun cruise I had so far this year, Bliss was beautiful and entertainment was a blast. Jackie Tang is the best at keeping us entertained. The Battle of the sexes had me on the flood laughing so hard. The ports were beautiful and the food was delicious. It rained a few hours while at sea but it didn't last for long. The Cabin was always clean and the crews are friendly. The announcements are clear from the bridge and from the cruise director. The guest were friendly and everyone on board was smiling and having a good time, not sure if the good time was due particularly to the Ultimate drinks package, but no obnoxious drunks or drunken events occurred. The ship was not overly crowded with over 4 thousand guest s including 1200 kids but it was all for the thanksgiving week so families are getting away for the holidays and enjoying the 75 degrees weather compared to -20 snow storms that were happening up North. The staff could not be more gracious or helpful wanting the best for the passengers. The food in the regular complimentary dining rooms was for the most part as good as specialty restaurants and loved the option of smaller venues like Taste and Savour. Another favourite complimentary venue was the Local, conveniently located near the Theatre for pre or post show dinners. The shows ranged from fair to fabulous with The Jersey Boys getting standing ovations. The decor was stunning and sailing on a new ship was a real joy. Despite the size with over 4000 passengers, there was never a true feeling of over crowding - except perhaps on excursion mornings out of the theatre which was still handled well. Due to weather concerns pre cruise, there were some port changes which, while disappointing, were of course beyond the control of NCL. Compensation for the changes were made through OBCs and appreciated. Would definitely choose the Bliss again. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to port proximity to our home state of Arizona. This is an incredibly large ship with a lot to do. Overall, or experience was very good. We had two big "singles" groups on board & struggled in getting reservations for dinner. Only availability was either at 5pm or 9pm. This made it difficult for my elderly parents. The staff was not as friendly as I have experienced on previous cruises. Felt like I was bothering them at times when ordering drinks or asking questions. The individual that checked us in at port made some mistakes & did not load our credit card information for both cabins we were occupying. This made us have to go to Customer Relations in the main lobby. The individual that assisted us barely even looked up at us as he completed the necessary changes. Was a bit uncomfortable with it all being my elderly father was the one having to go through having his picture retaken at that time. Luckily my father has a good sense of humor stating "I think he has had a bad day." The ship bars, for the most part, were incredibly busy. The bar tenders manning the bars by the pool area rarely smiled. It was definitely not a pleasant experience getting your drinks from them as has been on other cruises. While I would recommend NCL for cruises, overall, this cruise was not as great an experience as previous cruises I have taken with NCL. Read Less

We really enjoyed our cruise on Bliss. It's very big ship with lots of dining and entertainment options. It was also Halloween and we had like 1000 singles on the ship, so that was great people watching. We flew in the night before and stayed at the Hyatt regency in Long Beach. I can't say enough good things about it. It was perfect and about 15-20 mins to port. We had a gorgeous view of the queen Mary which we unfortunately didn't have enough time to visit. The one part that was not pleasant was check in at San Pedro world cruise center. It was extremely chaotic, very little signage. Our Lyft driver was confused. Porters were taking new luggage and helping passengers getting off. Super confusing mixing the two different cruises. Once we figured out where to go, the line wasnt bad. It moved sort of quickly. Once through security we waited in another line to get checked in and receive room keys. Again signage was poor and we had to ask. Disembark was also poor and chaotic once off the ship. At check in they didn't give us a map of the ship and we had to go back and ask. By the time we got in to the boarding wait area... they had started boarding groups 1-4. We were group 21. We waited about 20 mins and were on the ship by 11:15 am. Once on the ship we ran for guest services but were told that Vibe Beach club passes were already sold out. I think they only have 70 of them. Somewhat discouraged we went to the Social to book go karts, laser tag and shows. That was fairly easy and short. Laser tag was 9.95 and go karts too. Happy hour prohibition was 35.98 but includes 5 regular sized drinks. Plus we loved that show but not for kids. Once booked we headed up to the garden Cafe and pool deck on 16. Lots of people , we grabbed a snack and a drink and two loungers in the shade. Sail away was pretty easy to entertaining but drinks expensive and no straws. Then off to check out our balcony room...more on that in room review but we liked it. First show was ¡Havana!. It was great and we both enjoyed it. It was an original musical, lots of singing and dancing but blessedly short. I think a little over an hour. Get there early 20 mins for a good seat. We sat middle row in the middle. Very much enjoyed it. Next we saw Jersey Boys and though longer...2 hours it was fabulous and Broadway quality. Very entertaining story, awesome singers and sets. Again get there early...we were late and sat too far back and couldn't see as well as I would have liked. I would have seen this twice but we went to the last one. We did not see comedy but heard it was great. Too much to do. Pool was great with an adults only pool next to the kids water park area. We did one water slide but I didn't have the courage to do the ocean loop because u drop 10 feet. Lots of seating but it fills up fast. Go karts! So fun! Do it once and prepare to get dirty. They are electric but still pretty fast. I got bumped a few times so if u have back or neck issues don't do it. We waited at least 30-40 mins after reservation time in line. Ladies don't bring a purse, they won't hold it and there's no where to put it. My boyfriend ended up winning first place. Ride is only about 10 mins long. Bars were so amazing on this ship. We went to almost all of them. But district brewhouse and sugar cane mojito were our favorites. My boyfriend did the beer tasting ($23) one afternoon and really enjoyed it. We also got the mojito flight for 19.95 one afternoon which is 6 mini different mojitos and loved that. I wish we had gotten two! We did not have the drink package. Atrium bar and Q smokehouse were also awesome places for drinks. We also really enjoyed Margaritaville. It's 14.95 but worth it. Lots of food and best burger on the ship. I would say that place had the funnest staff too. Most everywhere the service was good to great. We didn't have a bad experience but some places were nicer than others. Dining- we mostly did specialty restaurants. We ate in Manhattan room once and though service was good, the table was in a bad location near where they scrape plates into a huge gross pile of food. Not what u want to see. The waiter was very quick with the wine pours! Good was decent to good but nothing special. The Q Smokehouse- we loved this place and went twice for dinner. Fabulous smoked meats in the pit master platter! Highly recommend. 4 kinds of meat including brisket! Jalapeno cornbread was delicious! Awesome country music. A must do! Ocean Blue- we should have sat outside for this one but we didn't....food was great. I had bacon wrapped seabass and it was the best Seafood of the cruise. Salmon cakes were perfect. Highly recommend this one too. Cagney's- was ok. Not amazing. Probably would have rather done Q again. But not bad. Los lobos- this was a tough sell for me. It was good but the restaurant it replaced Moderno Chucusarria was my favorite and truly amazing. Other Norwegian ships have that restaurant still. I'd rather go there. But it was good... Standard Mexican fare. Food Republic- kinda chilly in here but neat views with no outdoor seating. Really neat mini plates of food and worth the alarm carte prices. I thought the shrimp phad thai was delish. We also checked out the bake shop and the sweet chocolate place. Yummy truffles and bon bons. Worth it if u like chocolate and affordable. We thought the Local was not as good as it's predecessor O'Sheenhans. Also almost all the places for breakfast serve the same thing every day. This gets old by day 5. Norwegian should address this. Not everyone likes eggs, waffles, cereal or pancakes. We very much enjoyed freestyle dining. I hate eating dinner the same time every day. All the ports were great... Mazatlan was my favorite and we did our own adventure in each port. Cabo was a blast. More time in port would have been better. Tendering went very well in Cabo. There is a ton for adults to do on this ship. They do have kid things but most of the entertainment is more adult centric which we really liked. We also got a day pass to the thermal suite and loved it too. So worth it for 60 per person. The therapy hot tub /pool is huge and very effective. I also thought the snow room was fun..wear shoes...and the aromatic steam room was great. Parties- Caliente was very hip. A glow party on deck. Music was loud and dancey. We brought a 100 glow sticks to give out and the kids enjoyed this a lot. Nashville nights and lights was also a blast. This is current country not old country. Lots of line dancing and very fun with a live band, Greg white Jr. Our fav. We also listened to and very much enjoyed Tim Boaz on the piano in the district brewhouse. Great piano songs and super cool guy. Actually most of the music was really good. One of our favorite things was hanging out in the observation deck. You really have to go here. It's huge and amazing and comfy. People tend to camp out here but if you go later at night, there's always a seat. Very well done. All ships should have a place like this. We will absolutely sail the Bliss again. Maybe try Alaska next time. Also we had a fun time at our cruise critic meet and greet. Very fun meeting different people. Bring straws! They don't have them. we cruise about 2 times a year with Carnival, tried NCL Bliss as it was a new ship and sailing out of Los Angeles to Mexico which made it very convenient. Boarded ship and prepared for great mexican riviera cruise (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo)..after 2 hours we were notified that due to a hurricane we were being diverted and going to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada. They completely lied to everyone who could have cancelled the trip prior to leaving and sail another time however they failed to notify us. TERRIBLE shame on you NCL! The weather was cold and dreary..not exactly what anyone had clothes packed for and due to a travel agency annual convention we were shut out of many areas of the ship during the entire week for private functions including the pool deck on 2 occassions, the bewhouse multiple times, the social club, etc.. The ship is beautiful however our cabin hallway always smelled of diesel burning, not sure why. The ships vibe was very off and during the one day we finally had a little sun they decided to show a movie on the pool deck..no live music, no recorded music..terrible. Never saw any activities on the deck. Diverted us without notice then had no shore excursions planned. People tried to get off in San Fran because they lived there and were denied or it would cost terrible fines. HORRIBLE ANNIVERSARY! NCL offered us NOTHING for this, I understand the hurricane and being diverted but they knew well ahead of time and told us nothing! we could have rescheduled as NOBODY wants to be prepared for warm weather and end up in a cold city where you would pay zero to go as you live close to it anyway. Waste of money and no consolation from NCL. THey should have offered discounts or partial refunds but they did nothing for us at all. Complaining to corporate office..shame on you NCL for not being upfront and honest with your passengers! Read Less

I selected this cruise for a look at the new ship, Bliss, and the warmth of the Mexican Riviera. I got only 1/2 of that promise fulfilled since Hurricane Wila prevented the Bliss from sailing south. So, while I saw the ship, I also saw San Francisco (I live 50 miles away and it is no big deal...or any deal to me), San Diego where I was stationed in the military, and Ensenada, which a friend called "Tijuana by the Sea". Pluses included: 1) Awesome Observation Lounge on the Bliss. Beautiful, not crowded and affording great views. 2) Thermal suite: Big, lots of heated couches, great therapy pool. 3) Two excellent shows: Havana and Jersey Boys 4) Good embark particularly considering 4,000 passengers 5) Big buffet with good views (but would get crowded) 6) Specialty restaurants were very good to excellent. Cagney's, Q, Le Bistro and Teppanyaki all more than met my expectations 7) Buffet, The Local, Taste/Savor all had good service and good food. Not so good: 1) The theatre, unlike the smaller ships, looks like a cardboard box. The entries are almost nondescript and, while the productions were good, the whole area is without style. 2) "Office building" decor in many places. Lobby not as impressive as other smaller ships (like the Star, Jewel, Pearl or Sun). 3) Gym has lots of equipment, but only two exercise bikes. For which there was some contention but no contention for the myriad stair masters and treadmills. 4) No real promenade. Guests can walk back and forth on deck 7, by the life rafts to dead ends, around deck 8 (the Waterfront) but only by going into and out of the interior of the ship, or around a short loop on Deck 17 while contending with joggers. 5) Closet design in my stateroom (148362) was not good. Impinged at one end so that clothes couldn't really hand there, too close to the couch which blocked easy entry, and with doors that looked like something from IKEA, as did most of the staterooms furnishing. 6) NCL provided disembark was OK until it was marred by a bus that had little luggage capacity because it was storing spare tires for the bus. So we were loaded up and then made to get off and go to another bus. The port does get real crowded with 4,000 people trying to leave at the same time. 7) The Bliss is BIG with lots of decks. Hoofing it from deck 6 (restaurants) to our stateroom on 14 certainly raised my heart rate. But that is the nature of the newer huge ships. Read Less

Hurricane caused the itinerary change from Mexican Riviera to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada, ports that are all "home" so we stayed onboard. It was still a lot of fun. We're used to much smaller ships and so enjoyed all the activities and entertainment available on the Bliss. There was a very heterogenous mix of ages from children to seniors and there were many activities for everyone. Being smashed into elevators was unpleasant, but the elevators were fast and numerous so it was tolerable. Events in the atrium were also crowded but it still was possible to find a seat or view from the upper level. The pool area was crowded but we didn't go there. Otherwise, the ship is designed so that the large number of guests are spread out and it doesn't seem too packed. All the restaurants have attractive dividers so the rooms seem much smaller than their actual size. Service was always speedy. You had to make it very clear if you didn't want to be rushed through a meal. Wait staff became much friendlier when they weren't so busy. All in all, it is a lovely ship and we had a very good time. A week is long enough, though. Read Less

Although we were supposed to cruise to the Mexican Riviera ports of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas on Oct. 20, 2018, due to Hurricane Willa, the caption announced during our first evening at dinner that we would be headed to San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada instead. This new itinerary was not only frustrating and disappointing, but inconvenient, since most people had packed for hot weather, and had little, if any, clothing and shoes for the 59 degree temperature in San Francisco. Yes, there is a lesson there to pack for every possibility of weather and temperatures in the future, but it was also disappointing since many Californians on board, including me, and probably others also, didn't want to see those cities, which were a few miles from where we boarded and live. I realize we couldn't sail into a hurricane, or rough waters, but perhaps there may have been some more interesting ports outside of California selected by NCL. NCL definitely knew prior to our departure that the itinerary would be changing and notified no one; we were not given a choice to board or not, even though the decision to sail to ports headed north, rather than south, had been made prior to our departure. I never would have selected a cruise sailing to ports in California and if given the choice, I would not have boarded. Choosing to make the best of the situation took some time to get adjusted to for all of us. As a family we had to make decisions of our own on how to change the course of our attitudes. So, now on to the positives...we DID have a very nice week as a family spending time together, eating, being entertained, and being pampered. The Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle was coordinated well in the District Brew House with samples, appetizers, and many ship officers and crew members. The service we received was excellent everywhere, especially in the restaurants. The food was delicious across the board, the production shows were good, and the ship is gorgeous! Our balcony cabin on deck 13, port side, aft, was quiet, beautiful, and a good location. We had fun on the go-carts, playing laser tag, using the slides and pool, at the parties, at the daily activities and using the beautiful observation lounge to relax. The ship itself is truly impressive and it's easy to have a great time! We had a very nice week on the ship - I just wish I felt like I traveled somewhere. Read Less

We were on the October 20th sailing of Norwegian Cruise Lines brand new Norwegian Bliss, only 6 months old. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 11 a.m. and by noon we had gone through security, picked up our cruise cards, dropped off our bags, and were comfortably resting in the new huge observation Lounge on the 15th floor. Norwegian has done an excellent job of making the check-in process virtually painless. We enjoyed six of the seven nights in specialty dining restaurants such as La Cucina, Le Bistro, Ocean Blue, Los Lobos, and Cagney's. The two Production shows were fantastic, Havana and the Jersey Boys. Originally our cruise was going to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas but due to a hurricane going to Mazatlan, the captain diverted the ship North to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada. We really didn't mind because the ship was a great place to bar hop and enjoy the many entertainment venues on board. We especially enjoyed the many venues of live music. Strongly recommended and we can't wait to our next Norwegian Cruise! Read Less

We chose this ship because it was the newest ship. This was our first cruise and the Norwegian Bliss is a brand new ship. We have always wanted to have the experience. The room was a bit small, but the extended balcony and bathroom made up for this. It was helpful to have space underneath the bed to put our stuff. The cruise was very expensive. We wouldn’t be able to travel as a family due to the cost. The kids will have to wait till they’re older to have this experience. Our excursions were shortened and not long enough to visit. A 12 to 14 day hour would allow for more time to see the sights. We loved the performers in the sugarcane, the variety of foods offered, the jewelry selection and art onboard along with a Starbucks was very much appreciated. The charge for yoga way too much and the overall experience was not that great. The charge for wi-fi was unbelievable. We learned what it is we’re looking for our next vacation. Taking a cruise is the way to vacation. 7 days isn’t long enough. Read Less

We are NCL Platium members, having sailed on many NCL ships. We booked the Bliss as its a new ship. First 4500 passangers is too big especially for the ship's resources. The crew was unahppy and unfriendly and it showed it everywhere (there were 4 staff exceptions only - Cruise Director, Joseph in Smokehouse and 2 Cruisenext staff)). Managers were always frowning and disapproving. The restaurants were booked before the cruise and we had to wait to get in and then it was 5:15 or 8:15. I will commend the La Bistro and Teppenyacci as the quality I expect on an NCL ship. The rest was mediocre. The ship had 1 pool for 4500 guests. Smaller ships have 2 pools -downsized for a bigger ship - why? There other NCL ships and a pool side grill - this ship has taken that out and replaced with with Margarettaville for $ 14.95 for a burger that is free in the buffet Prohibition was a fun show. Jersey Boys which was closing after this cruise had medicore voices at best. Havana was as amateur as I have ever seen except 1 bearded dancer and the 2 female singer leaders who were really good. This ship was over crowded everywhere. The staff pushed the buffet for meals as the other restaurants were overwhelmed. Do yourself a favor and look for a smaller ship than this ship which was big enough to fail. Read Less

Inside cabin 12th deck met our expectations, plenty of room for the two of us. 1st stop Ensenada La Bufadora - really cool but be aware, you have to walk about a mile from where the bus drops you off thru the gauntlet of Mexican vendors! I suggested at the excursion desk upon return they should make a specific note on the distance walking, the desk Mgr. clearly was not interested in my suggestion stating the excursion was already rated as moderate indicating the walking required. 2nd stop Puerto Vallarta - Las Caletas & John Huston private island. We thought the price was a steep for what you get but it was a beautiful place. We took the cooking class and enjoyed the food, was really good with the open bar. Beach is not quite as they describe in fact at high tide there is little beach at all. Would recommend just one time, it was very pretty. 3rd stop Cabos - We took the catamaran sail over to Santa Maria cove. Easily the best excursion, we swam with thousands of fish, of course it helps when your tour guide releases food for the fish. Would definitely recommend this. Hurricane turning toward us prevented a stop at Mazatlan. Sad we could not visit but understand. On board unlimited go carts was the bomb, really really fun. Had read difficult to ride, but did not have that experience. Food - clearly the cruise line would love to just shut down the main dining room and have you go to the buffet or pay extra for the specialty restaurants. Very average FREE food! Entertainment - sad the days of fun entertainment every night in the theater is gone. The Jersey boys Valli lead singer was not quite on point, we understand hard to find someone with that tone for sure. Overall the show was fine. Havana was also fine, would have rather seen another USA type musical or show. The other nights were filled with miscellaneous shows not really worth watching so really just 2 different shows. For those smokers - just be aware if you like to smoke, you have a small little corner near the bar at the very back of the ship to smoke. I personally am not a smoker but why that entire area near the bar is not open to smoking was beyond me. Overall very average, getting onto the ship and off was really easy. We stayed at the crown plaza across the street from the port and did the park and ride which was really easy and I would recommend if parking your car for a week. Read Less
