We left out of Norfolk because it was convenient. Carnival was the only option leaving this port and this was my 4th cruise with Carnival. This cruise also had good ports of call. Embarkation was good. Excursions surpassed ship experiences. Food was poor. Service was ok. Cruise director was invisible. Teenagers were not as bad as others described but we were on a longer cruise. It was just meh. ...
Wanted a cruise out of Norfolk. Getting on the ship no problem. We are platum so we have priority boarding. The room was to be ready. NOT. Went for muster drill, they scanned our card and said we were free to go. It was very crowded. However in the buffet area workers would stand in groups of three and played on their phone. They were also flirting with the customers. Paid for internet, it was ...
We chose this cruise because it was a port close to our home and we didn't have to fly. It was a sweet 16 cruise for my daughter and she brought her cousins along so they were happy just to be going and hanging out.
PROS
- unlimited pizza and icecream for kids
- friendly staff
- felt safe letting the kids hangout without adults the entire time "ages 9-16"
-free charm bracelet ...
This cruise was advertised quite reasonably so we booked. Also, we could drive to the port. That was the good part. Also, the dining room was wonderful! Both the service and the food were way above average. We really enjoyed the music duo Magic and Music - so much talent! Great tunes to dance to. Now the ugly; the Lido Marketplace is disgusting. Long lines to wait for slop! If you only want to ...
Selected this cruise because I live less than 2 hours from Norfolk port. But it was not a good boarding experience. It rained, people got wet, parking situation awful!! Later found out that luggage handlers were on strike so not enough staff to get people through boarding process in timely manner. People stood in line, in rain for hours!! Not enough service staff on Lido Deck. In all my days ...
Picked the cruise due to origination from Norfolk. Also read that this ship had been just been refitted and the price was reasonable.
Embarkation was a problem with long lines and open to weather. Fortunately it did not rain as many would have been soaked. once on board things went pretty smooth. Buffet was extremely busy and not enough space and food was warm but not hot. First night ...
We chose this inaugural cruise of the Sunrise as we were travelling Virginia, D.C. and Outer Banks of North Carolina at the time so departure port was very convenient. This was going to be our first trip to the Caribbean and we hoped that Carnival would similar standards to Holland America as they are the same company. Although we are not big party animals or boozers, we got the impression from ...
We chose this cruise because it was very inexpensive and we did not have to fly to Norfolk. We did upgrade to a Cloud 9 Spa cabin for a fee.
If this was my first cruise I would never return. Because I know it can be fun and a great time, I was terribly disappointed in the experience and would never return to this ship. While waiting for my ride from terminal I wanted to tell those new ...
This was my second time cruising with the sunshine from Norfolk va. The first time last year was so nice and I had a ball. I wanted to take my sisters because they never cruised before and I was so excited to share this with them. The weather was horrible but that's wasn't carnival fault. The clean up staff was fantastic. Very friendly. The bartenders was friendly. That's the good news. ...
only had to travel 15 minutes to port. Rooms were great, but received very poor service in anytime dining. Recommend people sign up for designated time. anytime dining is like a mase that is difficult to get through. Service was lousy and food was not what we ordered. But I will definitely cruise the sunshine again. Overall we had a great time. Free drinks in the casino, cookies in the room, Free ...
