We just returned from a five day cruise on the Carnival Glory. Norfolk (last Carnival cruise for Norfolk...such a shame!) to the Bahamas. We have cruised a few times before on another line. Friends invited us to come along, and you just can't beat these Carnival prices. We wanted to see what Carnival was like compared to Holland America line. If you are a frequent cruiser, you are probably ...
Embarkation: First want to say that Parking and drop off was very confusing. Very small terminal and parking was 75 dollars for 5 days. NO secure parking. Second the check in was easy and fast. Got to desk and was handed keys to room in about 10 min. Then boarded the ship. Customs was quick and easy.
Ship and Sea days. Well how should I begin. The ship is laid out weird. You have to go up and ...
When we got in line, the cruise did not start boarding until 1:30 PM on Sunday. The line was long and it was a hot day but the excitement seemed to make the time go by fast. It took about an hour and a half and we were dropping our bags off in our room. The muster drill was long and drawn out. We were packed 5 deep and at least 3 people around us passed out due to the cluttered mess. The ...
Although it was convenient to cruise out of Norfolk(only 3 hr ride from our house), this port has some problems moving people on & off the ship. It really surprised me because the other ports I've sailed out usually have smoother embarkation & disembarkation procedures!
Ship was clean for the most part, although some more upkeep was needed. especially in the Red Sail Buffet areas. I'm so used to ...
I haven't sailed Carnival for awhile after an experience that left me less than enchanted. But, truth is, Carnival hasn't changed - I have. The Glory is a pretty girl. She has many, many colorful public rooms for gambling and dancing. From the raunchy red, really loud Piano Bar, to the peacock Blue karaoke Bar, to the 'OMG how can you possibly breathe in here' Ivory Bar - she is one colorful ...
My wife and decided a month before the sail date to try Carnival for the first time, as our son has expressed he would like a cruise for his graduation present next spring.
We are new at the Cruise Vacation Life and was extremely pleased with our last years 10 day cruise on Royal Caribbean.
Fortunately we live in Norfolk Va. and looked forward to embarking from our home town. The travel ...
We sailed out of Norfolk on Carnival Glory on October 25, 2010. As we live in Norfolk, it was a short cab ride to Half Moon Terminal. So nice not to have to fly and bother with the airlines. There were a sufficient number of stevedores waiting curbside to take our luggage and they were very pleasant and very professional. It took a minute amount of time for our passports to be checked outside the ...
This was our second cruise. In 2006, we cruised to Bermuda with Royal Caribbean, so this was our first Carnival Cruise. Overall, we had a good time. But after cruising with Royal, I don't know that I'd want to cruise on Carnival again.
First of all, we had no problems on our embarkation. Things went smoothly, and we did not wait too long. Our room was ready when we got on the ship because ...
Living locally, it was wonderful to have a friend drop us off at the pier, and not have to worry about our luggage beyond leaving it with a porter. We arrived at 11:00, and the ship started boarding at 11:30 by zones based on arrival time or platinum status. We were able to board by noon, and, since the ship had been sailing empty from New York, were able to proceed directly to our ...
First Time Cruisers.
Departure: Norfolk, VA
Embarkation: Easy. We arrived very early (9:45 am) and had to wait a bit to get on board. We were 3rd or 4th in line and once let in, the whole check in process was quick and easy. We were lucky and got an early zone number and were on the ship by 12:30 or so. Went up to Lido and ate lunch while the rest of the passengers came onboard. ...
