Took a 21 day Panama Canal cruise from Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale. The ship is nicely decorated with some lovely flower arrangements & art & it is in relatively good working condition. Our cabin was well cared for but we found the pillows & linens to be in poor condition. Pillows had stains & no support. Stains on the duvet as well.Our bathroom shower curtain had black mold on it. It was a large family getaway. 12 adults and 7 kids and pretty much a complete disappointment. The ship's refit was incomplete. Nice bathrooms but old bedroom furnishings. The type of food offering was decent but the preparation was lacking, so don't expect 5 star; maybe 2 star at best. As for the "shows", they managed to coerce the crew to perform on stage. This was my third Holland America cruise though it has been a number of years since I last sailed HA. I am an experienced cruiser having sailed with several other lines and ships over the past 30 years. I chose this cruise for a quick getaway with my mother. I can only extend my personal thoughts about each cruise I take. I have been on 26 cruises, 5 to Alaska and 4 on Holland.
Overall, the passengers averaged about 75 yrs old with a third Australian, a third Canadian and the rest Asians and Americans. There were only 4 kids on the ship.

We recently took a cruise from Vancouver up the inside passage and to Alaska with Holland America on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We had heard from several people that this was one of the best ship to do this cruise with as they cruise deep into glacier bay. we chose this cruise to go to Turks & Caicos
90 minutes waiting to check in with no information from HA.
30 minutes at the muster station waiting as they repeatedly announced 6 room numbers as we all stood there.
Food and service was very good.
First port T&C missed, to windy to dock. Bummer no snorkeling for us the reason we booked.
