My wife and me sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam from May 4th to May 16th 2015. We went from Venice to Istambul and back to Venice. The ship was absolutly perfect. Very comfortable and we specially appreciated that there was lot of space everywhere on the ship (ex: hot tubs, pools, restaurants. The food was very, very good at buffet, at dining room and specially at Pinnacle Grill. 2 nights with ...
We had a great time. There were amazingly calm seas. The dining room experience was good - they accommodated special (low sodium) diet issues and that was excellent. But the main dining room was often slow. So dinner took a couple of hours. The room stewards were wonderful. The room was always made up before we came back from breakfast. The Lido was great. My husband fell in love with the ...
We fully enjoyed our 12 day cruise and the crew and staff has worked endlessly to make this cruise a successful one for all passengers. This is our second cruise with HAL (and the same ship, only now 12 versus 7 days) and ship is in tip-top-shape.
Staff is engaged, starting from the bussy embarkation day, talking to us & other guests, but also during the cruise and the hearty 'farewell' during ...
Excellent ship to sail in. Beautifully appointed, very comfortable and well maintained. Crew take care to ensure passengers are well cared for at all times,
Holland America is very professional in the running of their ships. I have sailed in other HAL vessels. They make you feel welcome and part of their family.
The on board entertainment is of a high standard and very popular.
The embarkation ...
We flew into Barcelona two days early and had a private company meet us and take us tat o our hotel. Two in our party don't walk well and we used private companies several times during our cruise. It was worth every penny and the private tours we took in Pisa/Florence and Naples were actually much less than HAL's private tours and approximately the same as the HAL standard tours. In Barcelona we ...
The itinerary was idea for us since we overnighted in Venice and Istanbul. It was nice not to have to book a hotel room in Venice. We have sailed with HAL to Panama Canal on the Zuiderdam. The Nieuw Amsterdam was an amazing ship. Even though it is quite large with lots of folks, we never felt crowded. We meet up with folks often but constantly were exposed to new conversations. The passengers were ...
This was the first time we had travelled with Holland America and was unsure what to expect, and due to such a wonderful experience, it may be hard to travel on another cruise line. We embarked in Venice which was smooth and very little hassle, was the most picturesque way to exit a port as glided past St Marco Square with a Champagne in our hand!
The ports we visited included Dubrovik - very ...
I want to start by saying that although I am a cruising newbie I am an experienced traveller of sorts from North America to South America to Europe to Africa...from first world to developing I have seen a lot that has made me laugh, cry and sleep in my clothes on the sheets. The one thing that I can count on is no matter how little rainfall a place has had before I arrive it will have some while I ...
12 day cruise from Venice to Barcelona. Embarcation in Venice quick and easy. We were on board before the stated time of embarcation. Within the hour our luggage was delivered. Room very spacious with tons of storage (didnt use all of it there was so much). As in any voyage nothing is perfect but when 99% of the trip is faultless, you can consider yourself blessed.
Dining: we dine mainly ...
Arrived a day early in Venice to enjoy time since our first trip to Europe, caught the #5 bus from the airport to the P.Roma and dropped off our luggage except for the carry on at the baggage storage. Caught the #1 vaporettato to St Marks and found our hotel the Anastasia a couple of blocks off St Marks. Great staff and location being in a central location.
Picked up our luggage the next ...
