The Beach Cove

(4:50 p.m. BST) -- Marella Cruises has revealed brand-new details on its next new cruise ship, Marella Explorer 2 -- the line's first adults-only vessel -- which debuts in May 2019.

The 1,814-passenger ship will feature three new-to-the-line venues, including a new clubhouse bar called The 19th Hole; an upmarket Prosecco and Champagne bar called Flutes, and The Beach Cove that will take on a beach-barbecue theme.

The ship will also feature a pizzeria-style dining option that debuted on Marella Explorer, however Explorer 2's will serve made-to-order pizzas, baked in a pizza oven, which is new for the line.

The 19th Hole will feature unique golf-buggy-style seating and two golf simulators, with drinks including golf-themed cocktails and craft beer. Flutes is being designed as a pre- and post-dinner drinks venue, with fun "Press for Bubbles" buttons at tables.

Chris Hackney, managing director of Marella Cruises, said in a statement: "We are really pleased to share details of the three fantastic new venues for Marella Explorer 2, we’ve made sure there is something to take every adults fancy whether that’s enjoying a golf themed cocktail in the 19th Hole or sipping on some bubbles in Flutes. We’re delighted customers have loved sailing on Marella Explorer and look forward to hearing about their experiences on Marella Explorer 2."

We already know that Marella Explorer 2 will offer many of the new-to-the fleet features that debuted on Marella Explorer in 2018, including a Champneys Spa and a number of brand new shows.

The ship will also feature the Asian-fusion restaurant Kora-La, Shake Shack and Surf and Turf.

Marella Explorer 2 will spend its inaugural season in the Mediterranean based out of Naples before repositioning to Bridgetown, Barbados for the winter 2019 season.
