(2:15 p.m.) -- "Shark Week" -- the Discovery Channel's much-loved annual TV program -- is expanding for the whole summer season on select Princess Cruises ships.
In honor of the program's 30th anniversary, the line has revealed a new "Summer of Shark" event series for shark lovers currently sailing on Caribbean Princess in the Caribbean, as well as on all seven ships in Alaska and Sapphire Princess from London starting on July 7.
Part of Princess' Discovery at Sea program, developed in partnership with Discovery Communications, "Summer of Shark" will treat passengers to shark-themed public spaces, specialty cocktails such as the Shark Attack Margarita and Great Blue Shark. Passengers will also have the opportunity to be the first to watch the Discovery Channel's 2018 Shark Week -- with Princess' ships streaming the program in June, before it airs on TV on July 22. Exclusive excursions, such as a whale shark encounter in La Paz, Mexico, also will be available for purchase.
Additionally, the kids' clubs onboard, which also will be decorated, will offer everything from Shark Week-themed face painting to take-home crafts like shark teeth jewelry and clay model making.
