(3:23 p.m. EST) -- More Cuba itineraries are on the horizon for Carnival Cruise Line, which today revealed it would send Carnival Sensation to Cuba in 2019.
The 2,052-passenger ship, which underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment last year, will join Carnival Paradise in offering cruises to Havana on select Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries. It will be the line's first ship to visit Cuba roundtrip from Miami.
Carnival Sensation's 2019 schedule will include four five-night cruises to Havana and Grand Turk, departing on May 20, September 9, November 18 and December 16; five five-night cruises to Havana, Nassau and sister brand Holland America's private island in the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay, departing on June 17, July 15, August 12, September 23 and November 4; one five-night cruise to Havana, Nassau and sister brand Princess Cruises' private island in the Bahamas, Princess Cays, departing on April 22; and seven five-night cruises to Havana and Grand Cayman, departing on May 6, June 3, July 1, July 29, August 26, October 7 and December 2.
Carnival Paradise will continue to offer Cuba cruises, roundtrip from Tampa, in 2018 and 2019.
"Our inaugural cruises to Cuba aboard Carnival Paradise from Tampa were met with exceptional guest response and we're thrilled to expand upon the program with our first Cuba cruises from Miami featuring Havana and some of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean and The Bahamas," said Carnival Cruise Line's president, Christine Duffy. "Cuba is a sought-after destination and we're delighted to provide our guests with even more opportunities to experience and explore this fascinating island."
Onboard, Carnival Sensation and Carnival Paradise will host a variety of Cuba-themed entertainment, including Amor Cubano: A Caribbean Dance Romance, a theater production made popular on the line's new ship, Carnival Vista; Havana-inspired deck parties; and salsa lessons.
During its recent refurb, Carnival Sensation was outfitted with the line's most popular restaurants and bars -- including Guy's Burger Joint, the BlueIguana Cantina and the Alchemy Bar -- as well as a new kids' club.
