Hot Glass Class on Celebrity Equinox

(12:15 p.m. EST) -- Celebrity Cruises' has replaced its partnership with the Corning Museum of Glass with Hollywood Hot Glass, adding a new hands-on element that enables cruisers to make their own glass art pieces.

Hollywood Hot Glass will host a single, live glassblowing demonstration on The Lawn Club at the beginning of participating sailings. Following the demo, cruisers can register for extra-fee Hot Glass Classes, which will be available throughout the sailing. During the class, participants will work with a hot glass instructor to create their very own piece of glass art.

In each class, cruisers will be able to choose from eight pieces and a variety of colors -- including a vase, starfish and a heart. Prices for the 20-minutes classes, which include the finished piece, start at $40 and go up depending on what you choose to make. Each piece requires a 12-hour cool down period, after which the new artists can take their piece home with them.

"We're always working to identify new and exciting opportunities for our guests on board, and we really feel that our new partnership with Hollywood Hot Glass is the perfect evolution of our past hot glass offering," said Brian Able, vice president of hotel operations for Celebrity Cruises.

Celebrity partnered with The Corning Museum of Glass for 10 years, offering multiple "Hot Glass Shows" during which a master glass blower demonstrated his or her craft, on Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Solstice. The transition will take place during the first six months of 2018. Hollywood Hot Glass is already onboard Celebrity Equinox; it will be rolled out to Celebrity Eclipse on April 1 and Celebrity Solstice on June 15.
