(6:10 p.m. EST) -- Beginning in summer 2019, Carnival will resume offering cruises from Norfolk, Virginia's Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center. The line has revealed it will send Carnival Triumph to the homeport after it undergoes a multimillion-dollar makeover that will welcome new restaurants, bars and entertainment offerings.

Norfolk was dropped from 2018 due to deployment changes ahead of Carnival Horizon's arrival at New York City in summer 2018. Carnival Sunshine, which operated several itineraries from Norfolk in 2016 and 2017, repositioned to Orlando's Port Canaveral for 2018 and will sail year-round from Charleston in 2019.

Carnival Triumph's 2019 schedule from Norfolk will include a series of five- and six-night Bahamas itineraries. Two five-night cruises will depart May 12 and May 17, calling at Nassau and Freeport. The six-night cruises -- departing May 6, October 14 and October 20 -- will include stops at Nassau, Freeport and Bahamas private island Half Moon Cay.

In addition to Norfolk, Carnival Triumph will offer four- to 14-night cruises from New York City in summer and fall 2019. Among them will be five four-night Bermuda itineraries departing May 23, June 20, July 18, August 15 and September 12; a six-night Bermuda cruise departing September 16; an eight-night Bermuda cruise departing June 24, which includes two full days in Bermuda and a stop in Grand Turk; and three weeklong Canada & New England cruises September 22, September 29 and October 6.

The ship also will sail a variety of longer Caribbean cruises from New York in 2019. They include eight nights to San Juan, Grand Turk and Amber Cove, departing July 2, July 10, July 30, August 7, August 27 and September 4; eight nights to San Juan, St. Thomas and Grand Turk departing July 22 and August 19; a 10-night cruise departing June 10, with calls at San Juan, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Grand Turk; and a 14-night Carnival Journeys cruise departing May 27 that will visit Grand Turk, Grand Cayman, Limon (Costa Rica) and Half Moon Cay.

Prior to Carnival Triumph's Norfolk and New York program, the ship will offer a handful of four- and five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale in April 2019. Four night cruises will include calls at Nassau and either Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays, while five-night cruises will call at Ocho Rios (Jamaica) and Grand Cayman. It will continue to operate these itineraries from November 2019 to April 2020.
