(3:20 p.m. EDT) -- As part of Carnival Cruise Line's partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the line is adding new activities to its kids' program, inspired by the book "Horton Hears a Who!".
The "Be Kind/Dare to Care" activities will be rolled out to all Carnival ships during the month of October. They include:
- Writing kindness pledges to be displayed onboard, with prizes for the best submissions
- Arts and crafts projects like creating friendship bracelets
- Screenings of the "Horton Hears a Who!" movie
- An interactive reading of the Horton book, as part of the Seuss-a-Palooza parade and story time
The story revolves around Horton, an elephant, who discovers a tiny planet that can't be easily seen and vows to protect it, even though no one else believes it exists.
Existing Dr. Seuss-themed activities onboard Carnival ships include The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, Dr. Seuss character events, a Seuss-themed reading area on select ships, and Dr. Seuss books, toys and movies available onboard.
