(10:20 a.m. EDT) -- AmaWaterways has chosen a godmother for AmaLea, a new river ship coming in 2018.
Filomena Andre, a travel industry leader currently working for the Auto Club organization, the largest AAA affiliate in the country, will serve as the ship's godmother. The christening ceremony will take place in Vilshofen, Germany, in May 2018.
A sister ship to this year's AmaKristina, 154-passenger AmaLea will have many of the line's signature features, including twin balconies, interconnecting and triple-occupancy cabins for families, and a heated sun deck pool with a swim-up bar.
Coming in 2018 for the line are expanded biking and hiking excursions and a complimentary "Sip and Sail" cocktail hour, where all beverages and spirits are free. (Beer and wine are already provided in the fares at lunch and dinner on AmaWaterways.)
AmaLea will begin its season with six Tulip cruises from Amsterdam before moving to the Danube River for seven-night cruises between Vilshofen and Budapest. The ship is also set to sail Christmas Market cruises on the Danube.
