(2:50 p.m. EDT) -- Isn't it a drag to have to head all the way to the cruise buffet for those late-night dessert cravings? Holland America Line has you covered with a new event called the Chocolate Surprise. After dinner on the last gala night of every cruise, servers make rounds along the promenade decks (main public spaces) with trays of chocolate treats as passengers are enjoying a cocktail or a bit of evening entertainment.
The parade, which lasts nearly three hours, offers desserts like dark chocolate-hazelnut pops; double chocolate cupcakes; milk chocolate raspberry tarts; chocolate macaroons with Grand Marnier; chocolate-dipped marshmallows with caramel krispies in chocolate sauce; and chocolate cones with lemon curd, bittersweet chocolate and butter cream.
"Guests love our culinary events, particularly those featuring chocolate, and we wanted to create something special that enhances their evening activities," said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line, in a news release.
The Chocolate Surprise parade now takes place on all Holland America Line ships fleetwide.
