Update, July 24, 2017, 1:05 p.m. EDT -- The Top Deck Burger Bar on Equinox was a temporary pop-up experience that has finished and Mast Grill is now reopened to passengers.
(5:20 p.m. EDT) -- Passengers on Celebrity Equinox will now notice a new menu at the Mast Grill. The Top Deck Burger Bar, a for-fee burger joint that debuted on Celebrity Constellation this past May, has replaced the popular poolside grill for the foreseeable future.
Cruise Critic first heard of the change on the Celebrity forums from member TommyD3, who reported live from the ship that the burgers at Mast Grill now bear a fee. Kaos28, another member onboard, said that the new menu went into effect on the second day of the cruise.
A spokesperson for Celebrity Cruises confirmed the change and noted it is not fleetwide. The Mast Grill also can be found on Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Infinity.
The Top Deck Burger Bar serves a variety of Kobe beef burgers on homemade brioche buns. Prices range from $4.95 for a four-ounce burger to $9.95 for an eight-ounce, and include fries or onion rings.
The complimentary burgers formerly served in the Mast Grill are available in the ship's Oceanview Cafe buffet.
Meanwhile, Cruise Critic members speculate whether or not the Top Deck Burger Bar eventually will go fleetwide, and if their cruises will be affected. CruisersTimesThree said, "I hope they don't make that change on the Summit when we board her Sunday!!! My cousin's 16 year old son can't wait to eat burgers to his heart's content!!!"
