Royal Caribbean to Test New Beverage Policy on Harmony of the Seas

Harmony of the Seas

(1:40 p.m. EDT) -- Beginning today, Royal Caribbean will test a new beverage policy onboard select Harmony of the Seas sailings.

The new policy requires all passengers 21 years of age and older to purchase a beverage package, if at least one other person in their cabin has one.

Cruise Critic first heard of the news on the Royal Caribbean forums, where member BananaNutters posted an unofficial statement with dates for the pilot program. A spokesperson from Royal Caribbean confirmed the new policy will be tested on Harmony of the Seas, but added, "At this time, we do not have plans to roll it out to any other ships."

A number of other cruise lines -- including Carnival, Holland America and MSC Cruises -- also have policies that state if one adult in a cabin purchases a beverage package, all other occupants over 21 must also purchase it.
