(10:50 a.m. EDT) -- When Seabourn Sojourn departs from Vancouver today, it will launch the luxury cruise line's first Alaska cruise season in 15 years.

Sojourn will sail 11-, 12- and 14-night cruises between Seward and Vancouver through September. While the ship will visit popular ports like Juneau and Ketchikan, and scenic cruise areas such as Glacier Bay, it will also cruise to lesser visited destinations such as such as Alert Bay and Klemtu. Active excursions, called Ventures by Seabourn, will be available in places like Misty Fjords and Tracy Arms; an expedition team of experts in science and nature will lead passengers on Zodiac and kayak tours.

Passengers will receive complimentary all-weather jackets and can enjoy a "Caviar on Ice" deck party in lieu of the line's popular Caviar in the Surf beach event.

"Like our guests, we've been counting down to this season. We're going to offer an Alaska experience with no compromises -- an ultra-luxury hospitality environment combined with adventurous off-ship experiences," said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn, in a company statement.
