(12:15 p.m. GMT) -- Cunard has revealed that fashion icon Iris Apfel will join its second annual Transatlantic Fashion Week voyage onboard Queen Mary 2 -- setting sail from Southampton to New York on August 31, 2017.
The headline designer for this year's voyage is Julien MacDonald, who will join fashion historian and author Colin McDowell and fashion consultant Gail Sackloff as the 2,691-passenger ship sails across the Atlantic -- arriving in the U.S. to coincide with the first day of New York Fashion Week.
Apfel -- who is known for her colourful style and campaigns for Macy’s, MAC, Kate Spade and Swarovski, among others -- will share her fashion wisdom with passengers, including Q&A sessions and fashion predictions for the future, while runway shows, dinners and exclusive unveilings will take place throughout the course of the sailing.
Cunard's VP Marketing Angus Struthers said: "Following on from the success of Transatlantic Fashion Week 2016 we are delighted to welcome fashion icon Iris Apfel, in addition to Julien Macdonald, onboard Queen Mary 2 this year. Transatlantic Fashion Week 2017 will see another seven-night voyage full of glamorous dinners, exclusive unveilings and exciting catwalk shows ensuring that this week becomes a firm fixture that is eagerly anticipated in the international fashion show calendar."
