(4 p.m. AEST) -- New games, kids activities, entertainment and theme parties are coming to Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend over the next few months, Carnival Cruise Line has revealed.
Both Sydney-based ships will add inflatable bocce courts and giant-sized board games such as Trivial Pursuit, Guess Who and Cranium. One of the world’s most famous murder mystery games, Cluedo, will also see the costumed characters present their alibis at the beginning of each cruise, with passengers attempting to solve the crime through clues given to them throughout the voyage.
Other new events include an 80s Rock and Glow night, which celebrates the decade’s music and fashion, and Lip Sync Battle, based on the US TV show, where passengers compete against each other complete with choreography, costumes and sets.
Exclusive to Carnival Spirit, the new Creative Cove will provide family arts and craft sessions, jewellery-making, word art and painting classes. Meanwhile, on Carnival Legend, children can now make their own cuddly toys at Build-A-Bear workshops in the new Camp Ocean club room. According to Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke, Aussie kids are already engaging with this activity at twice the rate as Americans.
“Australians are amongst the most outgoing of our passengers,” Vandekreeke said. “They love participating in all our onboard games and sports, so we’ve decided to expand our entertainment range even further, joining with some leading companies to bring even more exciting and engaging experiences onboard our ships.”
Vandekreeke said the cruise line would be making it even easier to join in all the new activities with the rollout of its Carnival Hub app in mid-2017, enabling passengers to tailor their own entertainment schedule on their mobile device.
