(12:10 p.m. GMT) -- Princess Cruises has announced a brand-new culinary partnership with three Michelin-star chef Emmanuel Renaut -- set to debut onboard the line's newest ship, Majestic Princess, in April 2017.
Renaut, who is the executive chef of Flocons de Sel restaurant in the village of Megeve in the French Alps, will be responsible for developing a French bistro concept called La Mer onboard the 3,600-passenger ship. The restaurant will open daily for dinner service with a yet-to-be-determined cover charge.
The menu is expected to feature some of Renaut's favorite dishes from his Flocons de Sel bistro menu, plus some new creations specifically designed for La Mer.
This follows the announcement in August 2016 that Majestic Princess -- Princess Cruises' ship specifically tailored to the Chinese cruising market -- will feature a partnership with another Michelin-starred chef, Richard Chen, who will oversee the ship's Cantonese restaurant Harmony. Majestic Princess will become the only cruise ship in China to offer two specialty restaurants with menus designed by Michelin-starred chefs.
Princess Cruises' president Jan Swartz said: "Adding chef Renaut, another Michelin star chef, to Majestic Princess elevates the dining experience to an even higher level and reinforces our leading position as the best cruise line for foodies."
The restaurant -- designed by leading hospitality design practice Jeffrey Beers International -- will be located in the ship's atrium and feature floor to ceiling windows with views out to sea.
Majestic Princess will also feature restaurants from sister ships, including Crown Grill & Bar steakhouse, the Chef's Table Lumiere and Alfredo's Italian restaurant. The ship's buffet restaurant will be called World Fresh Marketplace and feature the unique street food counter "East Meets West."
Majestic Princess embarks on its maiden voyage on April 4, 2017, sailing a five-night Adriatic Sea itinerary. The ship will offer a select number of European summer sailings departing from Rome, Barcelona or Athens, before repositioning to Shanghai, via Dubai and Singapore, on May 21, 2017.--By Kerry Spencer, Editor, U.K.
