Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship in Bermuda

(5:16 p.m. EDT) -- A Norwegian Breakaway crew member, aged 41, has died following a lifeboat accident that took place today while the ship was in Bermuda.

During a routine drill, a lifeboat fell and injured four crew members. The crew members were immediately treated at the ship's medical center before being transferred to a local hospital, where one subsequently died from his injuries.

"Norwegian is profoundly saddened by this loss, and we share our deepest sympathies with the crew member's family and loved ones during this difficult time," the line said in a statement.

"The company is providing full support and care to those involved and is working closely with the Government of Bermuda and relevant authorities to investigate the incident."

In 2014, a Coral Princess crew member died when a lifeboat fell during maintenance work on the ship's hull.

Norwegian Breakaway is expected to depart Bermuda as scheduled.
