Room service

(Sept. 23, 2:35 p.m.) -- Celebrity Cruises says the late night room service fee will be $4.95, and applied to all stateroom classes except suites.

Announcement of the change came to Cruise Critic via email; the company website has also now been updated to reflect the change. The fee, charged for room service orders between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., goes into effect on all cruises after Oct. 1, spokesperson Stephanie Holder said.

(8:55 a.m. EDT) -- Celebrity Cruises has added a $3.95 fee for all room service items delivered between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The change is listed on the company website and went into effect across the fleet "within the past few weeks," said Celebrity spokesperson Stephanie Holder. Previously, delivery for basic room service items was complimentary, although certain premium items, such as caprese salad, a cheese platter and filet mignon, carried an extra cost.

Aqua, Concierge or Suite class do not pay the fee.

More cruise lines have been adding room service fees. In April, Norwegian Cruise Line instituted a $7.95 charge for all room service, excluding continental breakfast.
