(12:15 p.m. EDT) -- The fireworks shows held once per cruise onboard sailings of Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway have ended. According to Vanessa Picariello, senior director of public relations for Norwegian Cruise Line, "We always want to ensure we're focusing the best overall guest experience possible. Fireworks are technically-challenging to execute onboard and take a very large amount of manpower for an extended period of time, so those dedicated team members are then unable to serve guests in other capacities."
The fireworks displays were first announced in January 2013 with the impending arrival of Breakaway.
We learned of the change from a thread on our Norwegian boards, where Cruise Critic members have been discussing it. "I am disappointed," said garnet115. "We loved the fireworks on breakaway last year. When I took the leap to splurge on an aft suite for my Feb 2016 Getaway cruise, the thought of the spectacular view for the fireworks definitely played into my decision."
Countered LrgPizza: "Are there honestly people that booked an entire cruise simply because of a 5 minute fireworks show that might or might not have happened because of the wine? Seriously? I'll send you a box of bottle rockets right now."
