(7:30 a.m. EST) -- G Adventures has canceled an Antarctica cruise after an engine failed on its expedition cruise ship.
The ship was berthed in Ushuaia, Argentina, when its portside engine failed unexpectedly on November 18, and G Adventures' engineers and the engine's manufacturers have been unable to fix the problem.
The line made the decision to cancel the ship's next sailing, on December 7, after being told that it was unclear whether the repairs would be completed in time.
G Adventures confirmed in a statement that all passengers on the canceled cruise have been offered a full refund as well as discounted rebooking options of 15 percent off another Expedition cruise or 20 percent off any other G Adventures tour.
A spokesperson for the line told Cruise Critic that an update on the ship's status was expected later this week.
