May 2, 2014
Cooking Demonstration (10:35 a.m. EDT) -- Every week we catch wind of so much cruise news, we don't always know what to do with it all, but a few standout bits sometimes catch our attention. Here are some interesting snippets we think you might like to know about.

The Real 'Life Aquatic'?
Acclaimed director Wes Anderson will cruise onboard Queen Mary 2 next month on a transatlantic crossing from New York to Southampton, U.K. The award-winning director of critically acclaimed films such as The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Fantastic Mr. Fox and, most recently, The Grand Budapest Hotel will be joined by some of his collaborators to present special screenings of his films as well as a question and answer session for passengers. Joining Anderson on the trip are: Jason Schwartzman, Roman Coppola and Tilda Swinton, who have all starred in or collaborated with Anderson on one or more of his films.

Local Flavors
New cooking classes onboard Oceania Cruises' Marina and Riviera European sailings will introduce passengers to the local flavors of the destinations they visit. Offered in the Bon Appetit Culinary Centers onboard each ship, the classes will include Healthy Greek, Turkish Arabesque, Modern Nordic and Beyond Ratatouille -- a class highlighting the favorite dishes of Oceania Cruises' own Jacques Pepin, and Guy Gedda, considered the godfather of Provencal cuisine. Two new Culinary Discovery Tours also will be offered in Cork, Ireland, and Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and will include opportunities to tour herb gardens, watch cooking demonstrations, tour a local marketplace, sample varieties of olive oil and of course, eat. Classes and tours can be purchased in advance or onboard, and rates start from $69 per person.

Chin Chin
Drink up! Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Equinox will emerge from a scheduled dry dock in Spain next week with some new-to-the-brand bar concepts. Wine bar Cellar Masters will morph into Gastrobar, dedicated to craft beer (more than 40 varieties to choose from!) and comfort food. Frozen drink lovers will appreciate Slush, a new venue on deck 14 serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoctions. Equinox is also getting a new Michael Kors shop, a portrait studio and a redesigned Internet lounge.

Fit for a Queen
Uniworld is brining another queen to Europe's rivers in 2015 with the S.S. Maria Theresa. Named after the Archduchess of Austria and Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, S.S. Maria Theresa will sail central Europe from Budapest to Amsterdam, as well as select tulip season itineraries and Danube holiday market cruises.

A Small World
Tauck is adding small ship sailings to Australia/New Zealand, Japan and Alaska to its 2015 ocean cruise portfolio. The line also is enhancing its three Galapagos Islands itineraries with content provided by BBC Earth.
