Tropical Storm Dorian Affects Ship Itineraries

Update, 9:00 a.m. EDT: Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that an itinerary has been modified for the July 27 Eastern Caribbean sailing of Disney Fantasy. The ship stopped first in Castaway Cay and will sail on to San Juan and St. Thomas, bypassing St. Maarten. Tropical Storm Dorian has degenerated into a tropical wave, according to the NOAA. No further advisories have been issued.

(July 27, 5:45 p.m. EDT) -- Carnival Cruise Line has made an itinerary change to the July 27 sailing of Carnival Freedom "in an abundance of caution" regarding Tropical Storm Dorian. The ship is now scheduled to sail first to Aruba, arriving July 30 for an overnight in port, and then on to La Romana, Dominican Republic and Grand Turk.

The fourth named storm in the Atlantic this hurricane season, Tropical Storm Dorian is approximately 550 miles off of the Northern Leeward Islands, according to the NOAA. There are no further watches, warnings or advisories in effect for the storm as its remnants move westward and dissipate.

All Carnival sailings departing on or after Saturday, July 27, 2013 will continue to operate as scheduled, according to a statement on the line's Web site.
