July 17, 2013
(11.54 a.m. EDT) -- A crew member has been found dead in her cabin onboard MSC Preziosa.

Maria La Camera, aged 29, worked as concierge in the exclusive MSC Yacht Club on MSC Cruises' newest ship Preziosa. She had worked for the Italian cruise line since 2010.

She was found dead in her cabin on Sunday 14th July. Italian Health Authorities and the ship's doctor believe the suspected cause of death to be a cerebral aneurysm.

An official autopsy is taking place today to determine the exact cause of Ms Camera's death.

In a statement, MSC Cruises told Cruise Critic: "It is with deepest regret that MSC Cruises reports that Maria La Camera, a 29 year old crew member from Positano, Italy, died on board MSC Preziosa on Sunday 14 July despite every effort to save her. The ship's doctor and the Italian Health Authorities believe that a cerebral aneurysm was the cause of death, and an official autopsy taking place today will be able to confirm the exact cause.

"The company's thoughts and sympathy are with her family, friends, and colleagues."
