Princess Cruises Adds New Level to Past Passenger Loyalty Program

April 15, 2013
Princess Cruises has added a new level, Medallion, to its Captain's Circle loyalty program, bringing the number of member tiers to four. The new tier gives passengers with a handful of Princess cruises under their belts access to more benefits more quickly.

Princess passengers reach Medallion level on their fourth cruise or their 31st cruise day, whichever comes first, putting the level solidly in between the Gold and Platinum levels. In addition to the Gold level perks, each Medallion member receives: a free upgrade to the Platinum Princess Vacation Protection program with the purchase of a standard insurance policy; a 10 percent discount on the price of a souvenir Reflections DVD; telephone access to an exclusive shoreside Captain's Circle help desk.

"The new Captain's Circle level offers passengers who've discovered cruising with Princess a way to move up the program's tiers at a faster rate," Jan Swartz, Princess' executive vice president, said. "We know Gold members are often anxious to reach the next tier, so this new level will add some benefits before they become Platinum members."

Captain Circle levels are: Gold (after one Princess cruise), Medallion (four-five cruises or 31-49 days), Platinum (six to 15 cruises or 50-149 days), and Elite (16 or more cruises or 150 or more cruise days).

The Medallion level goes into effect on sailings beginning today or later. Medallion cruise cards and pins will be deep burgundy.
