February 12, 2013
(3:04 p.m. EST) -- After raising a few eyebrows with its announcement of Florida-only homeports for the first half of 2014, Disney Cruise Line revealed it will spend the second half of 2014 testing new waters, including first-ever departures from San Juan and Venice.

Though Disney Magic has previously sailed the Mediterranean, new for 2014 the ship will use Venice as a homeport – with an overnight – for select sailings. Barcelona will be used for the remaining Med season, which runs May to August 2014. New destinations on Med itineraries include Katakolon, Rhodes, Heraklion (Crete), Santorini and Corfu, Greece and Catania, Sicily.

Disney Magic also will trial Disney's other new homeport, San Juan, on four sailings between September 20 and October 11 to the Southern Caribbean, including Grenada.

Disney Cruise Line once again returns to Alaska with Disney Wonder, which will sail seven-night cruises from Vancouver. Closer to its traditional home, Disney Wonder will sail four- to five-night Bahamas and Caribbean cruises from Miami from January to April, while Disney Magic will sail the same itineraries from October to December. Disney also will sail from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean and Bahamas on a variety of itineraries throughout 2014 as well.
