R. Kelly Scraps 'Love Letter' Cruise

August 13, 2012

(4:30 p.m. EDT) -- Musical artist R. Kelly has announced that he will no longer be aboard Carnival Destiny as part of the planned "Love Letter" cruise, set to depart on October 1 for a five-night Bahamas sailing. According to TMZ, Kelly claims the event's organizers, Concerts Cruise LLC, never paid him for his two scheduled onboard performances.

Concerts Cruise did not respond to a request for information, but despite rumors that the sailing -- a half-ship charter from Miami to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau -- would continue without Kelly, Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen says the cruise has officially been canceled at the promoter's request.

Other acts slated to perform onboard included the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Albert Torres and Walter Jones.

All passengers booked for the theme cruise have the option of a full refund or rebooking for the same cruise directly through Carnival Cruise Lines.
