Expedition Line Cancels Two Cruises to Make Repairs

October 9, 2011

(5 p.m. EDT) -- Orion Expedition Cruises has canceled the next two itineraries for Orion II, according to information from a Cruise Critic contributor who is onboard the ship's current Borneo itinerary.

Line representatives have not yet responded to a request for information, but according to our source, the ship will undergo repairs to fix the air-conditioning and other technical glitches, which may include issues with a drive shaft and one of the industrial washing machines onboard, as well as the ship's elevator.

The line's Web site, www.orionexpeditions.com, was not working at the time of publication, but ExpeditionCruising.com reports that the two canceled voyages include an October 10 Gulf of Siam cruise and an October 17 Thailand Temples sailing. According to the article, passengers are being offered a choice of rebooking the same itineraries later in the year or opting for credits for future sailings.

The ship is slated to arrive in Singapore on Monday, as scheduled. We'll keep you updated as new information becomes available.
