Passenger Missing From Thomson Red Sea Cruise

April 21, 2011

(2:32 p.m. EDT) -- A passenger from Milton Keynes has gone missing from the 1,254-passenger, 33,930-ton Thomson Spirit, the line confirmed in a press statement today.

John Halford, 63, who was sailing on Thomson Cruises' seven-night Red Sea Magic voyage from 31 March to 7 April, failed to disembark for his flight back to Luton Airport when the ship docked in Sharm El Sheikh at the end of the cruise. A Thomson Cruises spokesman told Cruise Critic that he'd had been travelling alone.

Thames Valley Police, which is investigating the case in conjunction with the Foreign Office in Egypt, said in a statement that Halford was last seen at 11:45 p.m. on 6 April, when the ship would have been at sea between Safaga, the last port on the itinerary, and Sharm El Sheikh. When the vessel docked at 7:30 a.m. for disembarkation, the crew realised he was missing.

The police are appealing to anybody who was on the cruise with Mr. Halford, or has information about his possible whereabouts, to call their 24-hour enquiry line (0845 8 505 505).
