All We Want for Christmas: Last-Minute Gift Ideas From the Cruise Critic Staff

December 14, 2010
(3:30 p.m. EST) -- Christmas may be a time for giving, but that doesn't mean receiving isn't fun as well.

Here at the Cruise Critic offices, it seems everyone has his or her sights set on some special gift, and we're watching the calendar. Time is running out, particularly if you want to let your fingers do your shopping. According to the Associated Press, online shopping is up 12 percent over last year, with many of the sales coming via smartphones and other mobile devices. While both UPS and FedEx are up to their ears in boxes right now, it's not too late to order online and get the goods by the big day.

So what's being delivered for the naughty and nice? The AP notes that for FedEx, "it's mostly books from Internet retailers like Amazon, clothing purchases, personal electronics such as iPads and smart phones, as well as luxury goods."

We can relate. Our wish lists are packed with items that are perfect for enhancing a cruise, and many require a plug (or at least battery power). Still, there are a few goodies you may not have thought of -- from chi-chi cosmetics to one item that comes with strings attached.

Check out our Christmas slideshow, which includes links to where you can find the items, plus other choices from our annual gift guide.

But hurry ... Santa's visit draws nigh.
