(11:21 a.m. EDT) -- Cruise Critic and Cruise Critic U.K. have been nominated for several awards this year -- and we need your help to win them! It's you, our members, who make Cruise Critic such a great community. We've highlighted below the accolades for which we've been nominated, plus step-by-step instructions for sharing your vote.

World Travel Awards 2010
We're up for "World's Leading Cruise Website" (, "World's Leading Online Cruise Community" ( and "World's Leading Travel Blog/Online Community" (Cruise Critic) in the 2010 World Travel Awards. This is a huge travel industry awards ceremony, now in its 17th year, and although the nominations are made by travel agents worldwide, members of the public can vote.

You have to register, but it's easy. Simply go to and provide your name and e-mail address.

Unlike the British Travel Awards, anyone can vote in this one -- no special postal code required!

Once you've registered, you'll be able to cast your vote. Select the Travel Technology section, then scroll down to vote in each of the three categories for which we've been nominated. Again, these are: "World's Leading Cruise Website," "World's Leading Online Cruise Community" and "World's Leading Travel Blog/Online Community." (If you choose to vote for every category, you could be in for a long session, as there are 649 of them.)

If you happen to be a travel industry employee and a member of trade organisations IATA or ABTA, your vote counts double!

There are regional ceremonies in Dubai, Johannesburg, Orlando, Antalya, New Delhi and Rio de Janeiro (Dubai has already taken place), but the overall winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in London on 7 November, which in previous years, has been a lavish and celebrity-studded affair.

Voting for the technology section closes 8 October. Please support us!

We've also been nominated "Best Travel Information Website" in the prestigious British Travel Awards, which describes itself as "the largest independent arbiter of public opinion on travel industry performance in the United Kingdom." In other words, the awards are voted for by the travelling public, rather than the travel industry, and are carefully audited to make sure everything is completely transparent.

We're especially proud that we're the only cruise site to have been nominated -- and it would mean a lot to us to be able to display a British Travel Awards "winner" logo! Here's how you can help:

You'll have to give your name and address (U.K. postcode required to vote), but it's quick and easy.

There are hundreds of categories, so you may want to add votes for your favourite cruise lines along the way. To vote for Cruise Critic, you need to click on Consumer Information Channels after you register, then skim through to "Best Travel Information Website" to register your vote!

You've got until 30 September to cast your vote, so please visit the site now. Everybody who votes is entered into a prize draw, to which more prizes are added as the voting progresses; so far, among other holidays, there's a Voyages of Discovery cruise and a Viking River cruise in the pot -- even more reason to check out the site.

Awards night is 4 November. You'll be hearing about it immediately afterward if we win!
