New NCL mascot SpongeBob SquarePants; free massages, courtesy of MSC Cruises; wine tasting with TV presenter, wine expert and P&O Cruises ambassador Olly Smith; Royal Caribbean's famous rock-climbing wall ... these are just a few of the offerings that made this year's second annual Cruise Show, sponsored by the Daily Telegraph, a roaring success.
We're still awaiting exact figures, but show planners tell us that a record number of cruise fans came through the doors at London's Olympia this Saturday and Sunday (even more impressive when you consider this weekend's time change, which meant less sleep for all!). Some were eager to bag a deal with their favourite cruise line, while others simply wanted to find out what makes a holiday at sea such a great choice.
Cruise Critic staffers were overwhelmed -- in a good way! -- with visitors stopping by our stand to play our fun Cruise IQ game for the chance to win a bottle of Champagne or enter our prize draw for travel goodies. We enjoyed meeting with those who visited for an informal chat with our team -- including Editor in Chief Carolyn Spencer Brown, who also took part in a number of expert panels, all packed with people wanting to learn something new about cruise.
Check out our photo slideshow from the event -- and, if you didn't come this year, definitely plan to go to the London show in 2011. We'll keep you posted on dates!
