Cruise Shipping Miami Pic of the Day: Royal Caribbean's Fain Gets Epic

March 17, 2010
Here at Cruise Shipping Miami, the annual industry mega-expo, one of our favorite attractions is the bustling tradeshow floor. Over a thousand cruise-related companies and tourist boards set up booths to showcase their latest offerings, be they microwavable sushi rolls or the newest models of vacuum toilets.

Check out this fun photo-op that Editor in Chief Carolyn Spencer Brown stumbled upon while wandering by the booth of ship-builders STX Europe. "The two big attractions here were scale models of Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas and NCL's Norwegian Epic," says Spencer Brown. "It's clear though that if Oasis of the Seas was the celebrity ship of 2009, Norwegian Epic, which launches in June, is the 'it girl' of 2010." Caught checking it out was Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. visionary Richard Fain, who told Cruise Critic that he is not too proud to get ideas from just about anywhere.
