According to a statement from the line, the 88,500-ton, 2,124-passenger Carnival Legend pulled into its Tampa homeport at 3 p.m. on Sunday, several hours late. The late arrival affected the following cruise, whose departure was delayed by roughly six hours until 10 p.m. on Sunday night. As a result, today's scheduled call in Grand Cayman was replaced with a call in Cozumel.
The line could not yet say how the remainder of the itinerary would play out.
In the same statement, Carnival said that the issue was only affecting Carnival Legend's speed and that all other onboard systems are operating normally.
A propulsion issue on Carnival Destiny in late January forced that ship into weeklong dry-dock; a Carnival spokesman told us the line is trying to fix Legend's problem now.
