Basil Brush Joins Entertainment Lineup on Ocean Village

May 5, 2009
Basil Brush He's handsome. He's famous. He's... hairy? Basil Brush, Britain's most famous fox, will bring family fun to Ocean Village sailings this summer when he becomes part of the casual line's entertainment offerings.

Making his debut in July on the 63,500-tonne, 1,578-passenger Ocean Village -- the line's original ship -- he'll join fellow television critters Bagpuss and Paddington Bear, who are already staple characters onboard and offer television story time and tea parties.

The 46-year-old Brush, the puppet star of the well-known "The Basil Brush Show," made his television debut in 1963 and is still one of the U.K.'s most recognisable celebrities. Because of this, his presence onboard should appeal to kids as well as their parents -- for a trip down memory lane.

Brush will perform in the Connexions Bar on Ocean Village's "Emperors and Espresso" sailings to the Western Mediterranean between 7 July and 1 September. He has also graciously agreed to pose for photos with passengers.

Although Brush was not available for comment, his representatives have said he is very excited about this opportunity.
