Saga Launches Over-50 Social Networking Site

November 2, 2007

Saga Group, owner of Saga Holidays, a cruise and travel company geared to older segments of the U.K. population, has officially launched a social networking site for over-50's.

Hoping to benefit from the popularity of the more youth-infested MySpace and Facebook, the Saga Zone is an online community designed specifically for an older clientele, where members can add their own detailed profiles, message each other, join groups, write a blog and contribute to Web forums.

According to Saga, Saga Zone attracted 13,000 members running in trial mode for the past four months, with the oldest member to join at 87. Now that the site is open to the entire public, Saga expects a huge upsurge in participation.
