First Wine-Themed Restaurants to Debut on Silversea

It's a busy week for cruise foodies: Just a few hours after Carnival revealed its partnership with French master chef Georges Blanc, Silversea announced that it is set to offer the first-ever Relais & Chateaux wine-themed restaurants at sea.

The existing alternative restaurants onboard all four ships in the Silversea fleet (Saletta on Silver Cloud and Silver Wind and Le Champagne on Silver Whisper and Silver Shadow) will be transformed with a new collection of dishes designed to complement wines from Silversea's Epicurean Collection. The new dining concept is expected to launch onboard Silver Whisper in late November, and expand fleetwide early next year.

Dishes are being developed with the help of master sommeliers trained in the member establishments of Relais & Chateaux -- Relais Gourmands. These sommeliers will be available in each restaurant to offer insights on each vintage to guests. Menus will vary based on itinerary (so guests on an Australia/New Zealand voyage, for example, may enjoy fine vintages and culinary traditions of that region), and guests will be able to sip a different vino (many rare and expensive) with each course.

The wines offered will not be included on Silversea's complimentary selections list -- which means a fee will be added to guests' shipboard accounts for this dining experience; the cover charge will vary based on the particular regions and wines presented each evening. Until this point, supper at Silversea's reservations-recommended alternative restaurants incurred no extra charge.
