Hurricane Emily Reaches Yucatan

July 18, 2005

(10:55 a.m.) -- Hurricane Emily is currently over Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, and is expected to continue moving over the Gulf of Mexico later today. A hurricane warning is still in effect for the Yucatan, including Cozumel. Belize's tropical storm warning has been discontinued.

All eyes are now on Texas, as the storm could make landfall there early this week. Though maximum sustained winds have decreased to 100 miles per hour, dropping Emily into the Category Two range, some strengthening is possible once the storm is back over water. NCL's Norwegian Sea departed from Houston on Saturday as scheduled, and it is not likely upcoming departures from Houston will be affected. However, we will post changes as necessary, so check back often.
