Coral Princess Crew Dispute Results in Stabbing

January 3, 2005
A Filipino crew member on Coral Princess was stabbed after an altercation while the ship was at sea, en route to Ft. Lauderdale, last week. The fracas took place between two employees in the ship's crew quarters area. One was stabbed and was treated by the ship's medical officer for internal bleeding-related injuries. He was transferred to a Ft. Lauderdale hospital when the ship arrived two days later.

He is reported to be in good condition. No passengers were affected by (or witnessed) the occurrence.

In a statement, Princess Cruises reports that the "aggressor" was held in detention onboard and then dismissed -- and returned to Manila.
