(10:30 a.m. GMT) -- Saga Cruises’ Spirit of Discovery has docked in Southampton and passengers have been allowed to disembark after being turned away from Gibraltar following a confirmed norovirus outbreak.

Saga confirmed 117 cases of norovirus out of a total number of 868 passengers -- 13.5 percent of the total number of passengers. There are also 513 crew onboard.

Boarding for the next cruise, which departs today, will be slightly delayed as crew carry out a deep clean of the ship, according to a spokesperson.

The line issued the following statement: "It is departing on the same day but will be slightly later than planned as we are taking every necessary precaution and will be deep cleaning the ship."

The line emphasised that the outbreak is not coronavirus. The same fate has befallen Crown Princess, which has been turned away from a number of Caribbean ports due to a gastro outbreak.
