(9:50 a.m. EST) -- Seabourn's first purpose-built expedition yacht, Seabourn Venture, will have a viewing lounge designed along the lines of the luxury brand's popular Observation Lounge. Located high up and forward on the new ship, the Constellation Lounge will serve as a gathering spot, providing 270-degree views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
In creating the space, noted hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany took the word "constellation" literally. With a textured marble and metal bar at its center, the lounge will have a constellation-inspired interior -- including dark blue carpet with bright constellation patterns and lighting that creates star-like patterns across the ceiling. The art will take inspiration from historic maps of the night sky.
Furnishings, designed by Tihany Product Design, will include velvety red banquettes and sling-back lounge chairs.
The name Constellation Lounge might sound familiar to Seabourn fans. It was last used on Seabourn Pride (now part of the Windstar Cruises fleet).
On Seabourn Venture, the expedition team will regularly be in the Constellation Lounge pointing out wildlife and geological wonders, the line said in a statement. The lounge will also be a venue for early-riser Continental breakfast and afternoon tea. At night, it will be a social gathering spot, with cocktails, tapas and live piano entertainment.
"The design of the space inspires, just like the sky above," said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn Cruises. "It will play out as an ideal setting to relax, unwind, and review the day while soaking up amazing views."
Seabourn Venture arrives in June 2021, and a currently unnamed sister ship, which will also have a Constellation Lounge, arrives in May 2022.
