(12:20 p.m. EST) -- Starting January 6, 2020 passengers sailing on Celebrity cruise ships will be required to pay $1 more per person, per day, for gratuities.

The new per person daily amount (added automatically to passengers' bills if not prepaid) will be $15.50 (up from $14.50) per person, per day, for standard accommodations; $16 (up from $15) for Concierge Class and AquaClass rooms; and $19 (up from $18) for passengers staying in suites.

Passengers with existing books can pre-pay their gratuities through January 5 to lock in the current rate. Those who have already prepaid their daily gratuities will not be charged any additional fees. Those who choose to pay their gratuities onboard, regardless of when the cruise was booked, will be subject to the new rates on all sailings departing on or after January 6, 2020.

Celebrity last raised its gratuity, also by $1, in January 2018.

(Gratuities are not charged on cruises booked in Australia or New Zealand and priced in AU or NZ dollars.)
