(3:20 p.m. GMT) -- Celebrity Cruises has announced that there will be more sailings from Southampton than ever before in 2021, with 15 departures scheduled from the UK’s busiest homeport.
The newly refurbished Celebrity Silhouette will return to and sail round-trip from Southampton, offering seven to 14-night itineraries ranging from the Norwegian Fjords to Iceland and Ireland.
New features of the 2,886-passenger capacity ship include The Retreat Lounge for suite-class guests, and a shaded relaxation area in the Lawn Club.
In addition to Southampton, the 2021-22 season will see the line visit 280 destinations in nearly 75 countries across all seven continents.
Guests will have the opportunity to visit 25 European countries on six Celebrity Cruises ships, and there will be four new ports of call, including Taranto, Italy, and three new ports in Greece -- Zakynthos, Hydra and Thessaloniki.
Celebrity Edge will also sail to Turkey for the first time in 2021, with stops in Istanbul and Kusadasi.
125 overnight stays in more than 30 destinations will also be scheduled, including overnights in Porto, Portugal, St Petersburg, Russia, and Reykjavik.
"Our mission at Celebrity Cruises is to open up the world for our guests,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO, Celebrity Cruises.
"For our 2021-22 season of sailings, we’ve searched the planet to curate the most incredible new and world-opening holiday experiences we could find.
"We’ll bring you to places that will stay with you long after you’ve left them, including new destina-tions in Europe, Asia, South America, and Alaska."
The Celebrity Revolution is the line’s programme to completely modernise its fleet. Enhance-ments will include a cabin redesign, with additional staterooms and suites added to some ships; new culinary concepts and refreshed public spaces and dining venues.
