(11:55 a.m. GMT) -- Marella Cruises' Marella Discovery 2 is being retrofitted with the line’s Squid & Anchor pub during a dry dock refurbishment that is currently taking place at the Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain.

Marella has exclusively revealed that the 1,830-passenger ship -- which debuted in July 2017 -- is in dry dock for 22-days, with the Squid & Anchor replacing the cabaret lounge-style Venue on Deck 5. Another major change will take place in the ship’s Islands Buffet, which is getting a complete refresh, with a new layout and a bold geometric style.

During the dry dock, Marella Discovery 2's kids clubs are being redecorated to reflect the M Crew colours, with new M Crew signage, new sensory toys, beanbags and cushions. The Family Suite and Family Junior Suite are being fitted with a chalkboard wall, USB sockets, games console and TV screen, artwork and new coffee table and bedside tables.

A brand-new mini-golf course is being installed; the spa, gym and adults-only Veranda area will also benefit from a changing room refurb, with new tiling and showers.

Additionally, digital menus are being installed at the ship’s two-deck main dining rooms, 47°and Gallery 47°; the Pool Bar is getting a cosmetic refresh; new artwork is being added in Bar Eleven; and Surf & Turf and Kora La & Sushi will benefit from new upholstery, artwork and stools at the sushi counter.

The ship’s first post-dry dock sailing, a 14-day Transatlantic repositioning cruise, departs from Malaga for Montego Bay on December 3.

This news comes as the line’s 1,924-passenger Marella Explorer returned to service on November 8, following a 24-day dry dock that saw a number of updates.
