(1:50 p.m. EDT) -- Effective August 1, Royal Caribbean now offers a vegan menu in its main dining rooms.

Some of the new menu's offerings include edamame-stuffed portobello mushrooms, vegan spaghetti "bolognaise" and orzo pasta stew with green vegetables. There are also vegan dessert options, like toffee "cheesecake" with dark chocolate and a peanut butter crust.

As before, vegan food will continue to be available in Royal Caribbean's Windjammer buffet, but the addition of the new menu in the dining room will allow vegan passengers to enjoy more formal meals.

The menu will become available as each ship returns to its homeport.
