(7.45 p.m. AEST) – APT has launched a small group holiday experience aboard the barge Magna Carta. More like a luxurious floating country hotel than a barge, Magna Carta accommodates just eight passengers in spacious suites. Cruises include the services of an expert crew and on-board chef.
After an overnight stay in London, passengers embark on an all-inclusive six-night journey which meanders through the past and present, stopping off at the historic cities, old-world villages and stately homes that line the Thames River.
Passengers on the Magna Carta can explore the royal seats of Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace on specially guided tours, and enjoy afternoon tea at Cliveden House. Other stops include visiting the rowing regatta town of Henley on Thames, and docking to explore Oxford’s university colleges.
There is also the option to unwind in the outdoor heated spa, relax over a sumptuous chef-prepared meal or make use of the walking, cycle along the Thames Footpath, and enjoy the quintessentially pretty English river views.
Sailings will depart from May to September 2020 and are priced from AU$11,595 per person. Bookings made before 30 November 2019 are eligible for a Fly Free Superdeal offer which includes a return economy airfare including taxes of up to AU$300 per person.
