(12:30 p.m. EDT) -- Starting on September 1, Crystal Society, the loyalty rewards program for Crystal Cruises, will include the ability to earn and redeem points on new expedition voyages.Shipboard credits, now called "As You Wish" credits, are earned per cruise and will change to accommodate new expedition sailings. All five- to 15-night sailings used to earn one credit, while all 16-night or longer sailings earned two credits. Now, that scale remains true for all ocean, river and yacht voyages, but expedition cruises will earn double credits (two credits per five- to 15-night voyage and four credits for voyages more than 16 nights in length). Also, Crystal Society members can now earn milestone benefits from any Crystal experience, and they can redeem them for any of the four sailing types (ocean, river, yacht and expedition). All other benefits remain the same as before, with automatic enrollment after a member's first Crystal cruise and additional perks after each milestone."We are tremendously grateful for the incredible number of guests who continue to return 'home' to Crystal again and again -- many who have sailed with us since the beginning," said Carmen Roig, Crystal's senior vice president of marketing and sales. For all Crystal cruisers with existing free cruise awards, those will be converted to equivalent Crystal Society cruise credits on September 1. Any members with a free cruise they want to redeem as-is, rather than using the new equivalent Crystal Society Cruise Credit, must book their free cruise by December 31, 2019, for a departure by December 31, 2020.
