(1:20 p.m. EDT) – Luxury cruise line Seabourn has opened bookings for the inaugural 2021 - 2022 season of its new expedition ship, Seabourn Venture. In addition to the previously revealed Arctic and Antarctica itineraries, the ship will visit the Amazon, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Europe -- with cruises ranging from seven to 22 nights.
"We have thoughtfully and carefully designed these expedition itineraries to not just visit but also provide the best authentic destination experiences in some of the most interesting and hard-to-reach locations in the world," said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. "Along with the ultra-luxury lifestyle we are known for, Seabourn Venture's amazing and immersive voyages will deliver the ultimate ultra-luxury expedition travel experience that our guests will cherish forever."
Seabourn Venture's maiden season will start with a 10-night pre-inaugural Highlights of the English Channel cruise that departs from Lisbon, Portugal, on July 5, 2021. On July 15, the ship will depart on a 12-night inaugural Northern Isles & The Viking Homeland voyage before leaving to sail the Arctic region through September.
The ship will continue on through Bermuda, the Caribbean, and Central and South America, with stops in the Panama Canal, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile; it will then spend a season in Antarctica. From March to April 2022, Seabourn Venture will offer five voyages in the Amazon before returning to Europe for a 12-night Western European Waterways voyage that departs from Santiago, Cape Verde, on April 30 and calls on the Canary Islands, Morocco, Portugal, France and Belgium, ending in Greenwich, England.
Seabourn Venture -- the first ship in Seabourn's new expedition fleet -- will carry 24 Zodiacs and a fleet of kayaks, as well as two submarines. Every sailing will have a 26-person expedition team comprised of wilderness experts, scientists, historians and naturalists to lead tours and enrichment.
This announcement comes one week after Seabourn released renderings of suite designs for its new luxury expedition ships. A yet-unnamed sister ship to Seabourn Venture is planned to launch in May 2022.
